A Student Conference on the Middle Ages in Britain

Call for Papers

Proposals for papers are welcomed on a wide range of topics concerning the Middle Ages in Britain. The conference aims to comprise the literary and linguistic situation in the period from approximately 600 to 1500 in all languages used at that time. Thus, although the main focus is on Old and Middle English, feel free to present papers also on Celtic, Latin, Old Norse and Anglo-Norman.

Abstracts of 250 words should be submitted by 20th June 2011 to conference-prague@seznam.cz. The presentations should not be longer than 20 minutes. We also encourage proposals for panels (three twenty-minute or four fifteen-minute papers).

Those who do not wish to present a paper are welcomed as well as the conference is meant to create a meeting opportunity for those interested in the subject.

Date and venue:
At the moment we are considering two alternative dates:
7th–8th October 2011 and 2nd–3rd March 2012

As we would like to welcome as many participants as possible to Prague, the date will be chosen to suit the majority. Thus we would like to ask all who are considering their participation to indicate the more convenient date in the registration form.

The conference will be held at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, Prague.

Registration:
Please fill in the enclosed registration form and send it to conference-prague@seznam.cz by 20th June.
Do not forget to mark the more convenient date!

Accommodation:
We will not be able to provide accommodation for the participants, but we will gladly help to find accommodation.

Do not hesitate to contact us for any further inquiry.

Organization committee:
Helena Znojemská, PhD,
Bc. Helena Filipová,
Bc. Michaela Hejná
