Number of students admitted: max. 25 The graduates of this MA programme will have mastered spoken English as well as specialized English in philology and other disciplines within the humanities, and will have a comprehensive knowledge of the theory, methodology and practical applications of English linguistics. The graduates will have a wide range of employment possibilities in all areas where university education combined with excellent knowledge of English, communicative, decision-making and information-processing skills and flexibility are required. The most promising graduates continue with their studies in postgraduate programmes in the Czech Republic or abroad Entrance examination: The entrance examination comprises two stages:
linguistic analysis of an English text (morphology of word classes, syntactic analysis of a simple and complex/compound sentence, word-formation and lexical semantics, general knowledge of the history of the English language)

a) the student's motivation for the study of the English language and linguistics (including a general idea of future employment possibilities);
Applicants who score a total of 50 points and above are considered for acceptance. The entrance examination cannot be waived. Applicants who are admitted to the programme are required to enrol before the end of September at a date given in the official notification of acceptance to secure their place. They also have to submit a certified copy of their BA (Bc) degree diploma to Studijní oddělení FF UK (nám. Jana Palacha 2, Praha 1, místnost 124) by 30 September 2013 at the latest. Applicants from abroad are required to submit a copy of their BA degree diploma certified by Charles University by this date.
