Český egyptologický ústav FF UK srdečně zve na přednášku profesora Francesca Tiradrittiho. Uskuteční se 13. 3. 2015 v 16.00 v místnosti 426 v budově FF UK na Celetné 20.

The Cenotaph of Harwa and the Pharaonic Renaissance?

The research in the Cenotaph of Harwa started in the 1995 and shed new light on a multifaceted period of the Egyptian history (first half of the 7th century BC). Although located in Thebes, the monument represents the resurgence of the Memphis culture in a frame of a true “Renaissance” spirit. The decoration is a re-elaboration of images and texts inspired to the most classical Pharaonic tradition. They contribute to outline a path that goes along the main axis of the cenotaph and describes the human existence from life to the resurrection on earth.

The excavations led by the Italian Archaeological Mission to Luxor also returned important data on the later history of the Theban necropolis and revealed the traces of the epidemic of Cyprian that scourged the Roman Empire at the middle of the 3rd century A.D.
