Jana Mynářová absolovovala v magisterském studiu obory egyptologie a klínopis (FF UK), roce 2004 obhájila doktorát v oboru filologie - jazyky zemí Asie a Afriky a v roce 2015 byla jmenována docentkou egyptologie. Specializuje se zejména na vztahy Egypta a Předního východu ve 2. tisíciletí př. n. l., společenský a historický vývoj Egypta v době Nové říše a periferní akkadštinu. Kromě FF UK v Praze působila také jako externí vyučující na FHS UK v Praze a FF ZČU v Plzni. Od roku 2011 přednáší též na FF MU v Brně. Jana Mynářová je členkou The American Schools of Oriental Research, International Association for Assyriology a redakční rady Annals of the Náprstek Museum.
