Mgr. Katarína Arias Kytnarová

Katarina Arias graduated in Classical Archaeology, Islamic Studies and Egyptology in the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. Since 2005 she has been enrolled in doctoral studies in Classical Archaeology and since 2009 in doctoral studies in Egyptology. She specializes in ancient Egyptian material culture, with a focus on the Old Kingdom pottery. In her dissertation („Pottery of the late Old Kingdom – social dynamics in the material culture“), she analyses the overall chronological development of the pottery of the Fifth and Sixth Dynasty and its social and economical importance. She is also interested in the traditions of late antique art in the early Islamic times. She has archaeological experience from excavations in Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Great Britain, Jordan and Egypt.
