Mgr. Mohamed Abdel Moneim Megahed

Mohamed Megahed graduated in Egyptian archaeology and Art history at universities in Minia and Cairo. Currently he works on his PhD program at Charles University in Prague (subject: Djedkare Isesi and His Reign, supervisor: Prof. Miroslav Bárta). He works on the material from previous Egyptian excavations in the pyramid complex of Djedkare Isesi in south Saqqara. Since a few years he also directs archaeological works in Djedkare’s pyramid complex and the anonymous pyramid complex of „Djedkare’s queen“ in south Saqqara.

since 2009 doctoral study at Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Arts

Work Experience

• since 1999 documentation of monuments, inspector of antiquities at the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt
• 2004-2009 director of Scientific Department of the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt
• since 2002 participation at archaeological excavations in Egypt (Abusir, Ain Šhams)
• since 2010 archaeological exploration of the pyramid complexes of Djedkare Isesi and „his queen“ in south Saqqara
